About Us
Here we Bring Our Community Together
At REMO, we support communities throughout Tanzania with projects that improve daily life, from vital resources and education to environmental protection, always with commitment to those most in need. REMO is a registered Tanzanian non-governmental organisation (NGO) based in Mto wa Mbu, Monduli. It was founded in 2024 by Emmanuel Saitoti together with help from other founding members. The name Retuno e Maa originally comes from the Maasai language. Retuno meaning helping and supporting each other, and e Maa representing the wider community we stand with.
Our Mission & Vision
Our Missions
To support communities in Tanzania with practical, community-led projects that address their most pressing daily needs.
We deliver this through five interconnected programmes: (1) sustainable water solutions through rainwater harvesting and well drilling, (2) ICT education that equips students with digital skills for the future, (3) tree planting and environmental initiatives that restore landscapes and promote sustainable practices, (4) school participation support for girls through health resources and sports, and (5) skills and economic empowerment for women to build independence and community leadership.
Our Visions
A Tanzania where every community has reliable access to clean water, quality education, and economic opportunity — and where local people are the architects of their own progress. We envision villages where women lead cooperatives, girls are able to stay in school, children grow up in a greener environment, and digital skills open doors that were previously closed. Our vision is self-sustaining: every programme REMO initiates is designed to outlast our involvement, rooted in community ownership from day one.
Why Us
What sets us apart: (1) genuine community co-design, where local voices shape every project from the start, (2) programmes that connect water, education, environment, and economic empowerment rather than treating them in isolation, (3) full financial transparency to both donors and the communities we work with, and (4) a team that combines on-the-ground Tanzanian leadership with international experience.
Our Core Values
Five values guide every decision we make
Sustainability: We prioritize environmentally friendly practices and sustainable resource management to ensure long-term benefits for communities.
Empowerment: We believe in empowering individuals, particularly the marginalized, by providing them with the tools and opportunities to thrive.
Community Engagement: We actively involve community members in project planning and implementation, ensuring that our initiatives are relevant and impactful.
Integrity: We conduct our operations with transparency and accountability, building trust with the communities we serve.
Innovation: We embrace creative solutions and technologies to address challenges and enhance our projects' effectiveness.
